Guerrilla Warfare from wikipedia

Guerrilla Warfare

The Guerrilla warfare is a special type of warfare that is fought usually with small groups of people called rebels that would fight against the Military and Police forces by using mobile tactics such as raids, ambushes, etc. They would be mostly dependent on local support, to help them hide, getting supplies of food, munitions and lots more. The Guerrilla would attack their enemies in small but repetitive waves at the opponent’s center of operations that would lead to force the withdrawal of the enemy.  Guerrilla warfare means in Spanish “little war” and was invented during the Peninsular War. Fidel Castro and Che started a Guerrilla warfare in December 1956.

Guerilla Warfare during the Cold War

the people of El Mozote were massacred because they were believed to own information concerning these rebels. Guerillas kept extremely well hidden, and open combat was usually replaced by night-time killings and ambushes. this was due to the fact that they were severely under-equipped and their numbers were very limited. the Guerillas of El Salvador were part of bigger scale battles, because the FMLN was a group of up to five left-wing militia rebels. this meant that they had a lot more power than most rebels. they were united under the same goal; to overthrow the right wing government.

Strategies

The Guerilla warfare strategies are mainly divided to two models: the classical model and the contemporary model.

The Classic strategy is a three-phased strategy. In the phase one, the guerilla try to earn the civilan's support by propaganda and by attacks against branches in the government.

Phase two, consists of more agressive and organized attacks against the government's military, as well as against crucial institutions.

Phase three was the most radical of all. In phase three of the classical strategic model, the guerillas would attempt to overthrow the government, to take over the cities and to claim power.

This strategic model is a Maoeist thoery, developed in China. There have been trials to reapply the strategy, and it was most successful and Vietnam.

In 1966, the Marxist Revolutionary Che Guevara wrote a book about guerilla warfare. It was generally intended to be a manual on guerilla warfare.

Guerilla tactics have been applied both successfully and unsuccessfully throughout history. The Mexican revolutionaries used guerilla ware fare to keep enemies at bay under the command of emiliano Zapata. Guerilla tactics were again used by Cuban revolutionaries Ché and Fidel Castro.  One of the most devastating guerilla wars was the Vietnam war , in which the Viet cong used the surrounding jungle in Vietnam to wreak havoc on enemy soldiers.  The success of guerilla fighting depends on the mobility of the enemy and the stealth of the guerilla soldiers. Guerilla attacks rarely have high casualties but operate constantly to wear the enemy down over extended periods. There are currently 20 different guerilla conflicts taking place around the world.

Guerrilla Warfare: Silent but Deadly

Small, well planned, ambushes have always been a successfull way of fighting in the past. In the past, many small army's of militants have been given the upperhand against a much superior army. Yes, some of these groups may have had more experience fighting and were better trained, but some of them were successfull due to the Guerrilla Warfare tactic. As everyone has heard of, there was the fight at The Alamo. one-hundred and eighty-three men used Guerrilla Warfare tactics to lure their enemy, of over 5,500, to a battle area that did not suit there fighting habit. Most Currently, Guerrilla Warefare is being used in Northern Uganda and Congo where Joseph Kony's army continues to terrorise familly's and their children. Interesting enough, many people also claim the recent Terrorist attacks by Al Qaeda to be Guerrilla like. The Arab intelligence have undercover "prospects" widespread throughout different countries. These "prospects" are told when to strike using stealth, eliminating massive numbers of people. Allthough Guerrilla Warefare has been developed in many horrible ways, to do horrible things, it has also been developed in good ways also. The Amercian army and Navy Seals prime method of attack, is using Guerrilla Warefare.

The overall layout of the page is alright, some entries doesn't have any pictures and some aren't in bedded with the text and the format of every pictures isn't very consistent. In the middle of the page it is a little bit confusing of who wrote what, there's no separations to see when does it end. The information is well structured and non of the entries repeat the same information. There a good introduction and body but not really a conclusion. I learned a few more details about the guerrilla warfare like for example; there tactics,..

I encountered some technical problems during this project but overall it was fine. I learned some new information about what we are studying and important people or battles that happened.
